So many have written, looking for places to stay during our glorious Autumn and our Halloween and  Vine show that I decided to post a few suggestions. It is high tourist season in October, so rooms are at a premium. Many weddings and other events are held at the same time as well; when the crush is  ongoing and the smell of wine permeates the air everywhere. The vineyards are turning the most spectacular colors; that it can look like they are on fire. The fog is off the ocean too, and you can see the horizon so clearly and the Pacific is so deep emerald green and cobalt blue that it almosts hurt's one's eyes to look at it. Yep---I love the Autumn!

I just realized that I hadn't updated this page in QUITE awhile...

Since the last posting----Halloween and  Vine has moved to Petaluma, which I think will be permanent since we LOVE this place. DO check out Petaluma---and we plan on having Halloween and Vine in the same place: Hermanns Sons Hall on the last saturday in September in 2008!

These are all places that are just off of highway 29; west Napa and closest to the show. Sonoma has a lot of places too, and I'd check their chamber of commerce site, www.sonomachamber.com and the visitors bureau www.sonomavalley.com.  I know that rooms were getting booked back in February, but there may be cancellations so I'd give it a try too.

Another good location for accomodations is Petaluma. Petaluma is a wonderful town, and is about 20 minutes west of Sonoma just off of highway 101. I know that rooms are affordable there, and they have many good restaurants and some fun stores to check out. (I always go to HeebeJeebes, Gothic Rose Antiques in Sienna, and Copperfields when I go to Petaluma!) It also about a half hour away from Bodega Bay---home of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. The schoolhouse is still standing, as is the playground equipment and Annie's house!

Here is the visitor's site for Petaluma: www.visitpetaluma.com .
